I love how God’s word not only reveals the truth we need for life, but that this truth brings joy. David reflected on that in Psalm 19:8, saying,
“The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart.”
Scripture reveals who God is and what He has done, and that brings joy. Do you want more joy in your life? Then seek God’s word.
This morning I was reflecting on one of those revelations about God that is delightfully surprising—that He is the God of joy, and in that great joy He sings. Isn’t that a striking thought? What would it be like to hear God sing? One day in heaven we will know. But for now, what is revealed to us, what we can know, is what it is that makes God sing. Zephaniah 3:17 tells us:
“The Lord your God in your midst,
the Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.”
What a thought, that because of His love for His children, God rejoices over us with singing! May that truth of God’s great love for you bring you joy as you walk with Him today, and with the psalmist may you say,
“By day the Lord directs His love, at night His song is with me” (Psalm 42:8).
