In the Gospel of Luke, we read about two disciples traveling from Jerusalem to Emmaus following the crucifixion of Christ. Along this journey Jesus joins them, but they fail to recognize Him. How often along our journey in our lives do we fail to recognize Jesus right beside us? The two disciples had left Jerusalem, most likely feeling exhausted, confused, lost, and overwhelmed. Luke shows us that Jesus meets us exactly where we are in the journey, no matter how broken, worn out, or how unworthy and overwhelmed we may feel. He is there for us too, whether we recognize him or not. (Luke 24:13-27)
Its summer and time for summer camp! With every summer camp, comes great anticipation of what God will do. Some people think that camp is just a way to occupy kids for a week, and get them out of the heat. While that’s a wonderful truth, it’s so much more. Summer camp is a time for our students to hear from Christ. When they set time aside to focus on Christ, they see more clearly that He has been with them the whole time.
Next week at Thousand Pines summer camp, we will focus on Christ’s love for us, His sacrifice for us and His desire for all of us to come to Him, just as we are.
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.”
Thank you for all your prayer and financial support of our Student Ministry.
