Romans 15:5 teaches that God gives us encouragement. The longer I live in this broken world, the more precious this truth is. What a needed gift to us is God’s encouragement! A while back a dear brother said to me, “Three things encourage me each day—the great things our Lord does that I see, the great things the Lord does that I can’t see and the promise of many great things to come.” What a great perspective! As I thought about it this morning, I considered how we may experience more of the encouragement God wants to give us:
- Thank the Lord for the great things in your life that you see.
- Trust the Lord for the great things that you do not yet see.
- Hope in the Lord for the great things He promised is coming.
May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word (2 Thessalonians 2:16-17).
